It's unfortunate, but I believe the main reason was because it would be in the Falcon ute territory. But with the current SUV boom, I'd like to think that the 2005 model on sale in the States could make it here some time.
Ford have just recently added two new variants to the F-Series line up so the F150 may be a possibility in a few years.

Welcome to the forum anyway, what do you currently drive?

I'm with you Feetus, I ended up buying a F250, which I'm rapt in but a F150 would have been my preference if they were available new. <img border=0 src="http://www.fordaustraliaforum.com/3581.gif" />

:welcome Feetus!! I don't think we have any chance of seeing it over here. I think it has the same load capacity as the Falcon ute?? and if it's going to steal sales away from the Falcon ute, then Ford Australia wont import it.

That's why we don't have the F 150 now and why there is no more Mondeo. Both of these vehicles compete in Falcon territory, which makes my blood boil!!>:

Dont buy from Ford Australia, buy from these people.... www.vdc.com.au

You can buy the latest model from them, any F series vehicle you want.

They also create the right hand drive F Series for Ford Australia. They dont come from USA in right hand drive mode for us, these mob perform it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the belief that all the F250 and F350’s sold here in Australia are built in Brazil, which is a right-hand market.

Welcome to the forum though and thanks for the link.

I think you're right Paul. Although you gotta wonder why they didn't put the gear lever and the Indicator stalk around the other way. The number of times I've washed the windows in the falcon when turning corners.

Another thing I've often wondered about. Up until recently Ford New Zealand were converting F150's for their market. Why couldn't they have done a few for us?

I suppose NZ would demand a lot less than Australia would therefore they could afford to make the 4 or so per month. I'd say they'd sell well over a hundred in Australia if it was available. I suppose it would drop in at around $50K.

Guys and Gals,

I looked long and hard into this as I wanted an F150 lightning (to go HSV hunting) or a F150 Harley Davidson (twin cab lightning with a little less power)

Talked to a lot of Ford Dealers and rang Ford themselves. Ford OZ wont import the F150 as it is not factory made in right hand drive, as stated earlier the F250 and F350 we get are made in Brazil, but they don't make F150s at that plant. :frown:

The other interesting part is that a Falcon ute actually has a higher payload than most of the F150 variants so it lost points in that respect.

One of the reasons the Kiwi's get so many cars that we don't is that they have no equivalent to ADR's. SO low volume imports are easier/cheaper to do.

I'm still considering a Lightning but a few other things have priority for the cash at the moment.

And I usually see at least one F150 Lightning or F150 HD each time I go to Windsor in NSW, one day I saw 4 different vehicles in about 5 minutes..I drooled

Cheers........

PS if your still keen

If our F Series are coming from Brazil, why are we getting such an old model?

The Brazil line up are much newer then what we are getting here...

the f250 and f350 might be made in brazil as right hand drive, so why has there been many complains reported to ford . Yet to rectify the prob has been the same way as if it was a left hand conversion don in Australia.

Actually Paul, I think that they get the American models. I think that they also have left hand drive vehicles. (At least the pictures on their web site depict them as such)
So you have to wonder why they build the right hand drive models there.
